Participants will explore what is meant by mentoring, and discuss the powerful impact of mentors in our lives.  We will discuss the challenges faced by community college students, and how mentoring can help students achieve their academic and professional goals.  This workshop will describe different research-based mentoring best practices.  We will also outline the specific steps involved in developing the Mentoring for Success program at BCC: Recruitment; mentor match process; training and on-going support for mentors; mentor and mentee responsibilities; and mentor events such as our mentoring celebration luncheon at the end of each semester.  Mentor match pairs will also speak about their mentoring experiences.
